Need to replace the seals on my Ford F-150(90) 8.8 rear end.
Problem is the bolt in the spider gear is broken off and have had a terrible time getting the little piece of this bolt out.
Does anyone have a link to a 'How to' on this?
Thanks in advance.

If you're refering to the Pinion Shaft lock bolt, it's very common for the bolt to snap off.
I used a torch and cut the bolt till it was flush with the Pinion Shaft.
This method destroyed the Pinion Shaft but it only takes a minute to get the job done.
There's not a lot of working room but you could try grinding, use a die grinder or cut the rest of the bolt with a hacksaw blade. I gave up and just torched it off.
What ever you do, cover the area with some thing so no filings get into the housing.
The dealers stock the Pinion Shaft and lock bolt.
Manual says to install new bolt with Loctite and torque to 15-30 Ft. LBS.
Differential disassembly thanks and follow up question.
F150xlt and wojo1989,
Thanks.
Pulling that cover off and seeing that the pin bolt had been sheared off was just a little perplexing.
I'll now try grinding my self out of this pit.
I have both air and electric die grinders so hopefully all will work out.
I have a temporary rear axle to use while I perform surgery on this one.
Also have a ring and pinion (3.27) to replace the older 3.08.
Hopefully it won't kill the gas mileage as much as the 4.10 loaner! :-)
Now a follow up question.
Is there a real good document either in paper or online which will detail setting up a set of differential gears?
Do appreciate the help.
Thank you.
