Well with Bob moving I figure it's time to try to drum up some more NCFTE members. I came across this guy in a 79 Dent this morning (actually was kind of up your way James, this is the little corner store where Old Drug Store road meets 50 Hwy). His name was Mike and he's quite the joker, he kept telling me jokes and I would try to think of a joke to keep up with him, and then he'd tell me 2 more. I think our joke ratio was about 6 to 2 his favor. He said he was a mechanic for 42 years, and that he is NOT "old and worn out" he just has a lot of " 'oh ****' miles " on his body. I told him we get together once a month to eat BBQ and shoot the breeze and he said "man that sounds really cool!" but he didn't take any information and didn't give me any way to contact him, so it remains to be seen whether he starts coming to anything.
But here is his cool old pickem up, 79 F150 XLT with a 460 big block (not original engine).
Yes beautiful evening to be outside. Got to spend most of it outside talking car stuff. nice relaxing evening. Bout to start cooking so I have something to feed everybody for lunch tomorrow.
Well we rode out to the mudbog last night, kinda gave me the itch to get mine ready again. Had a pretty good evening until a drunk marine thought it would be a good idea to start cutting donuts in the shut down area, then again in the racers parking area. He got shut down pretty quick when he looked up and realized he had about 20 racers surrounding his truck. Track owner took his keys until someone sober showed up to drive him away.
Anyways... Gonna start tinkering on my truck tomorrow. Plan is to have it going by the April race.
I found an outfit in Wilmington that has been hired by the government to decommission Humvee's. They're selling the tires I need for Ka'Bluey for $100 each, and with 90-95% tread
I also found a tire dealer in Fayetteville doing the same thing but 50-65% tread for $75 each. And the same place I bought the tires that are on there now, in Norman Oklahoma for $100 each, with 75% tread. So, Wilmington is a better deal.
So possibly a Wilmington road trip coming up if anybody wants to go for a ride.
Yea those Humvee tires are fairly easy to come by around here.
I decided to post my 97 for sale last night about 730. I have since had about 30 people contact me about it. One guy is on the way to look at it, and got 4 more waiting to here if the guy bought it or not.
No go on first guy. I posted it for $900. Wanted me to take less. Not gonna happen, it'll set there and rot. Second guy is waiting to hear back from his client
I'm canceling my Wilmington trip. That $400 for tires can be used for the move, and I'll get tires later.
Well if you're not going to go out there, I should get that contact information for the guy that has those tires. I happen to have some 16.5 wheels laying around that would look good wrapped in 37's.
