Steering.. UUGGGHHHHH....
Question is... is there some kind of u-joint in the steering shaft that needs to be replaced as well?
Also, are all the steering boxes reman or can you get new?
I would invite you to read through it as there is a lot of great information that would have caused the install to fail if I had not had it.

Big thanks to FTE for the help and getting my family back on the road safely in short order.
As for remann or new, I believe most of the options are going to be remann, but you might be able to find something new if you are willing to pay for it.
RedHead has been a good option up until very recently. We have been seeing more and more failures from them, but it could be coincidental.
Joes Transmission in PA is a reputable shop that rebuilds steering boxes according some FTE brothers. https://www.facebook.com/Joestrans/
As for your steering shaft question, no there is no u-joint. There is a set screw where the shaft meets the gear box and then they come apart with a bit of prying toward the cab of the truck.
