here's an update on my 5.4 after replacing all the timing parts it ran good but I thought it was a little flat and it stayed that way for a couple trips then it started missing on cylinder 5 and 6 I checked the coil and the plug and the injector all was fine so I checked the compression and I only had 60 in one cylinder and 30 in the other I thought well maybe it did bend a valve so I pulled the heads and my exhaust valves were burnt what would cause The valves to be burnt like that and it wasn't just those cylinders it was seven out of eight cylinders the exhaust valves were burnt

Engine overheating, poor fuel quality, to low of an octane fuel, just to name a few.

I've never noticed any over heating don't mean it never happened just never noticed it I always use bp gasoline 87 octane also the exhaust manifold was cracked on both sides wonder if that had something to do with it. The cylinder walls had a few nicks you could feel with a fingernail but I wouldn't tear it down for those little spots I got tired of messing with it and Me and a friend of mine pulled the engine out last week and I got a remanufactured and put in it
