Timing

I'm lost here and looking for some help I've got a 2004 f150 5.4 the other day I was driving at around 35 mph in town out of nowhere it started stumbling backfireing bucking I got to to the local dealership and left it called the next morning and they say something broke internally and the pcm is coded bad they quoted me ten thousand dollars to replace the engine i told them no and had it towed home. When I started it to me it acts like it's lost the passenger side bank acts like it's jumped time fuel pressure is good coils are good replaced cam position sensors that didn't help I'm open to anything you have to say I'm lost.

You need to start by getting a code reader and seeing what trouble codes are present.

I'm no mechanic by no means so if I ask stupid questions it's just because I have no idea what I'm talking about so here's one if one of the guides broke or the tensioner failed would that allow the timing chain to jump also is their any way the cam phaser could move and have the engine out of time it runs just like it's out of time.

Yes to the jumped chain, no to the cam phaser.

Here is the timing procedure, pay attention to the double colored links and how they straddle the timing marks.

k thanks I actually bore scoped my engine today and everything looks good picked up my parts from the ford dealer today I've got to take the oil pan off and clean it out and then I'm going to start going back together hopefully everything will be good to go I did notice that I can move my cam phaser a good bit and the camshaft itself don't move I've checked and double checked the timing counted links and everything lines up except the passenger side has a huge amount of slack in the chain which allows the crankshaft to move and the cam stays still do you think that's what caused the timing issue??

Sure can be, it doesn't take much for the system to know something isn't in synch.
