I had a similar issue on the same truck. We replaced the passenger side phaser and all new timing components. After we get it all back together it ran perfect. For about 15 mins. Code reader says that bank 2 is now running retarded. What could be causing this issue after it ran so good

Well I changed the passenger vct bc the screen was broke. The driver side one tested within range so we kept it. But I did go by the local ford house and asked their thoughts and they did say that the bank 2 could be just one tooth off even if it is on the marks right. So we r gonna take it apart tomorrow and try again. I'll give update

Ok we just finished up. We rotated the chain clockwise on the sprocket bank two. Everything is running good. Only code is saying bank two cps is not reading good. But we think that may be bc we rotated the sprocket from its original position. Everything runs smooth so we r calling it a job well done.

it is odd looks like if you put your colored link on the dot on the crankshaft sprocket and took the slack out of the chain and split the camshaft mark with the other two colored links it couldn't be off a tooth but who knows with these engines I'm glad you got it going through

here's an update on my 5.4 after replacing all the timing parts it ran good but I thought it was a little flat and it stayed that way for a couple trips then it started missing on cylinder 5 and 6 I checked the coil and the plug and the injector all was fine so I checked the compression and I only had 60 in one cylinder and 30 in the other I thought well maybe it did bend a valve so I pulled the heads and my exhaust valves were burnt what would cause The valves to be burnt like that and it wasn't just those cylinders it was seven out of eight cylinders the exhaust valves were burnt
