Hi all. I'm having trouble reading PIDs on my 2000 F350. I first tried to read them using a Superchips 1805 programmer and for most of the PIDs, initiating the read tripped the check engine light and then the truck would crank but not start until after the ignition had been cycled off and the back on. Also, no data on the particular PID was given. I thought it might be a problem with the programmer so I bought an ELM 327 OBDII wifi broadcaster and have tried several free iPhone apps to monitor the PIDs and experienced the same result as with the programmer. Now I'm wondering if there may be a problem with the PCM but before I throw over $100 at the dealership to diagnose and potentially reflash the PCM, I'm hoping to hear from anyone here who may heard of or experienced this behavior and hopefully know what the issue and solution could be.
It sounds like one or more PIDs has a typo in it. Set up one PID at a time, and confirm each before adding more. When you hit the offending PID, you'll know it.
I've tried this method for several PIDs and I get the error for practically all of them (only engine RPM and intake manifold pressure haven't resulted in the error, while at least half a dozen others have). Maybe I can manually enter the PID codes to verify that they have been correctly input? Is there a database of these codes somewhere?
