Dana 44 spicer or 9in?

so I decided to change out my diff fluid today since when I had to replace a rear backing plate due to a brake malfunction and saw a little bit of grime in the axle tube. Apparently I have a Dana 44 for the rear???(2wd f100). I only found that out when I went to get the gasket for the diff cover since I didn't have a drain plug. Is that a good thing or bad, I've always heard good things about the Dana line and it being on a 2wd it kinda threw me a curve ball as from building knowledge of these trucks I love I always thought they were only on 4wd, can anyone enlighten me on this subject?
