Code Reading

So I read the codes on my truck and I'm getting code P1316. It says it's the injector circuit-IDM codes detected. So does that mean I have a bad idm or is it more than likely a break in my injector circuit (like a short in the uvch)?

More likely bad UVCH wiring than a bad IDM. A common place to find evidence of a bad UVCH is the external wiring connector on each head gasket; pull it off and look for burnt or melted pins. If burnt pins are found the problem is likely under the valve covers. Check the UVCH thread Rich (Tugly) made a few lines down the forum from yours, some good background info to have when checking the wiring. Plenty of threads on the subject. 50 cent mod may be in order.

IDMs do go bad, but not as commonly. I'd suspect that more if there was possible water intrusion, like fording water or a heavy rain.

Give us an idea of the symptoms too, might help us armchair wrenchers diagnose the thing.

It's running really rough. Just sitting there idling it blows a haze of blue smoke. Getting on the accelerator it will blow some whitish bluish smoke. My egts won't climb over 200 even when tacking 1800 rpm running 40 mph. The truck has no power and is really sluggish to move.

Sounds like a bad UVCH on the driver side. This is why I have two EGT gauges, one for each manifold. I'd go easy on the truck until this is resolved - the passenger side might be going all volcano on you.
