Sending unit sealer

I installed two sending units for my 2 speed electric fan. I've tightened them as tight as I dare (Brass in to Aluminum) but still get a weap of several drops overnight. I thought someone on here talked about a sealer that could be used on electric sending units. Anybody know what it was?

Two sending units in upper radiator hose.

The senders should have a wire for grounding and therefor don't need a metal to metal contact to establish a ground(even if the neck was grounded). Teflon tape is your answer like Kevin said.

The unit is between two rubber hoses. The adapter has a ground wire though. In order for the electrical connection to work the output wire takes a ground through the temperature sending units through the adapter and through the ground wire to the chassis. So teflon tape would interfere with the temperature senders getting a ground. Same as your electric temperature sender on a head or engine block.

Is that the Mark VIII fan? I am very soon to do the Volvo fan and relay setup. I thought your system was like mine and uses a three prong sender setup(one wire for each speed, then a third wire for ground.

I am wrong. Obviously you know what you have and I can see your senders only have one wire each.

So you're back to square one, That is the trouble with those kind of senders.

Teflon tape will not completely isolate the ground circuit from the senders. When the sender is snugged down the tape will fill in the voids thus sealing the water connection but it will also cut through and allow the male and female threads to come in contact. Try it out, tape the threads, screw it together, and then put an ohmmeter across the sender to adapter housing...I bet you'll see continuity.

I've always been told no goo or teflon tape on electric sending units but I'll give it a try. It's not like the antifreeze hasn't been drained a time or two already

I have a Ford Taurus two speed fan that fits like it was made for my aluminum radiator.

The controller is a Hollister unit and the sending unit mount is off of a Honda I think. I bought it new from them. Seems to work pretty well except for the weeping which I can't fault the controller or fan for.

OBTW I mounted the controller inside the frame rail on the passenger side.

That truck/engine bay looks clean, I love it. Power steering is a clean install and I like the water neck.

Can you give me the details on your radiator: rows, part number, place you got it, etc.

It's 3 row direct replacement by Champion off of Fleabay. Said it was good up to 400 Hp. My ole Y Block won't be pushing anything near 250. But my old radiator was shot and I was wanting to add a trans cooler for my C4 upgrade.

Like Charlie said teflon tape or just about any good thread sealer will work. That is BS about not applying a sealer to electrical connectors. As a side note I personally would put that adapter in the lower hose, it will work fine down there and will look a lot cleaner when the sheet metal is back on the front. Clean looking set up so far but your adapter up there looks like an after thought in my eyes, but what the h3ll do I know.

Thanks for the comments Dave. They told me the sending units needed to be in the upper hose. I agree that it looks like an after thought that's why I turned the adapter where the sending units were on the bottom and warped all the wires in black. I was trying to make them "blend in". The aluminum elbow and radiator top will be polished once all the leaks get worked out.
