Sending Unit Gasket

When I put the new Painless wiring harness on recently ('69 F-100) it only has a hot wire to the sending unit. If I use the gasket, it prevents the thing from being grounded. The PO had used some kind of sealer around the sending unit to prevent gas leaking, I'm guessing. Is this an acceptable way to do it?

I think the stud in the middle on the sender is your hot connection point and you have to have (or make) a wire that goes from the sender to the gas tank mounting bolt or cab wall. I want to say there should be a tab on the sender for a connector to slip onto.

sprocket is right. There should be a tab on the sending unit to attach the ground wire to.
