Every time I try to put my window up on my 2016 XL and hit a bump the window goes right back down. Very annoying on city streets where they are very bumpy.
Any way to change sensitivity so its doesn't happen as often or even turn it off. Only adults in my truck. thanks in advance.
McObra, did they adjust the sensitivity or turn off the auto reverse? If I remember correctly turning off the auto reverse can be done and the instructions are in the manual, Definately on one of the Ford truck forums.
On some vehicles, it's just a matter of holding the p/w switches up for a given amount of time (5-15 seconds, for example), or it may be a software problem that they can solve with a download. Depends on how the manufacturer does it. Usually not a true "mechanical" problem.
So is the speculation that the window regulator has gotten the wrong idea about where "up" is? ... or is there maybe some obstruction in window mechanism/track that is giving a false reading?
See the below thread where I had a similar question. "Retraining" the windows helped. I have only had the window go screwy once (a couple of days ago) since doing the reset.
Kinda wondering if maybe this is something you just have to do once in a while because the motor/sensor "drifts" or something.

It's more likely a problem in the power window control unit, rather than a mechanical problem with the regulator or motor, or an obstruction in the window track. All of us old guys tend to think of mechanical problems, when in modern vehicles, it's a better than even chance that a problem with a power accessory (windows, sunroofs, seats, etc) is a computer or control unit problem that can be solved with software.

The window is designed to go down if there is too much resistance when it is going up. In the old days there was a limit switch that tripped, I would guess today current draw is monitored. Your problem could be a simple realignment or cleaning. It may also be a bad regulator. I would take it in if it's still on warranty. If your not on warranty check the alignment, make sure the window tracks are clean & maybe try a little lube.
