Anyone have an idea why Ford gives you auto roll feature on putting the window down only and not up? Its bad enough the option is only available on the driver window... I have had my Lariat for less than a week and its already annoying me.
Wernt they removed from most cars/trucks as a safty feature. Not 100% sure but i think kids had died because of haveing head outside the window and catching the switch and the window closeing all the way up.
To prevent accidential strangulation, the regulators have to be equipped with sensors to detect that an object is obstructing the upward path of the glass and then to instantly reverse travel. The rocker-type window switches in the armrest were changed because kids/pets would rest their hand/paw on the "up" switch with their head out the window, so it was clearly a safety hazard. On one hand, as many pickup trucks as they sell, it would add minimal cost amortized over several model years. Then, on the other hand, there doesn't appear to be much of a public clamor to add them either.
Understand the concern on safety, but to get the window to roll up, you have to pull the rocker switch up (which prevents accidental activation from leaning on the switch). The issue is why have an auto function to go down but not have one going up? My last vehicle allowed the driver to auto roll all four windows and it was very convenient.
Would like to know if there are companies providing different rocker switches so I could replace mine.
Exactly, as a safety percaution. Same reason they changed the switch direction as posted above. I wish they would have auto roll down for all window switches on drivers side
I agree - somewhat irritating. I understand the safety aspect also though. I will let you know that I put an aftermarket alarm in one of my trucks and had them hook up remote start and window roll-down modules (to vent the hot air). This also gave me one-touch down on all four windows. I don't think they would roll up with one-touch (but can't remember). It was somewhat expensive back then and the one-touch was just a by-product of getting the security - but something you could talk to your local shop about.
