sorry to jack this thread but had a question for SDcrewzer
is that a good formula for suspension
I'm building a truck so I'm looking for a suspension formula to figure out my payload capacity after I get the curb weight
the rub is I cant get a straight answer on suspension payload modification formula I know there has to be one or am I crazy
The Sterling axle in the current (and previous) 250 and 350 trucks are the same. The reason the 250 is rated lower is simply to satisfy the GVWR requirement to make the 250 a class 2 truck and the 350 a class 3 truck. By using the F-350 axle rating, the F-250 would not be a class 2 truck, which would defeat its entire purpose.
No to veer too far... made me remember exiting off the PA t'pike at Denver, driving from Cleveland to Reading during the holidays (bad ice and storms on I80, my normal trek), first 250 I'd driven on the PA, had the toll all ready but nooooo, "sorry sir, that's a class 2 vehicle, that'll be $xx"! ouch! last time I drove the PA! don't even want to think what the 350 class 3 toll would be!
To close this loop, my truck arrived with a payload of 2074. Using the dealers eSourceBook titled "Actual Regular Production Option Content Weignt" and adding up the weight for all the options, my payload matched exactly with my yellow sticker.
So ... for anyone ordering in the future and trying to figure out what I was struggling with, just ask for the most recent copy of that document from your dealer and this will be a simple and quick process. Wish that the Chat people knew about this or were willing to help to do so.
