Odd. I go to the sync website logon, and it says that for my 2016, that sync2 V3.8 is the latest, and no update available.

The last update I had was SYNC 2 v3.6. When I log on to the website it says I have an update available, and it is v3.10. Not sure why the difference. Just tried loading it again and got the same error message. Sure hoping there is someone out there that has experienced this problem and got it resolved without having to go to the dealer to have it done.

I am using a brand new USB drive and formatted with FAT32. Downloaded the file as directed on the SYNC website, and made sure the necessary files were in the root directory. Contacted SYNC support yesterday only to be told I would have to take it to a dealer to have it done.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, what did you do to resolve the problem?

Thanks in advance, Jim
What size jump drive and is it one for USB 3.0? I had that issue and used an older legacy USB drive and it loaded it... Just a thought. Also, new doesn't mean works, a new one can still be "bad". Yes I agree the truck is pickier than it should be - but it is what it is.

Hey all, the Sync update has shown up on my owner.ford.com site. It is the same size, and same dates as the file link earlier in this thread.
It is under my 2015 King Ranch, and it also has shown up for my Sport Trac. Hummm.....
Headed to Texas Motor Speedway tomorrow, so I guess that would be a good time to install as we are headed up!

My jump drive is 16Gb. Brand new, and I erased all the stuff that came preloaded on it, and reformatted it FAT32.

Not sure about USB 3.0. Since it’s brand new, I would think it is the latest type.

Might be too new. Do you have an older one to try? Also, I was reading the directions, make sure you have a newer chip in the NAV slot.

FWIW, I can't even get the latest update to download and the sync site says it has to custom make it for you. I last updated less than a year ago too...

When you did the format did you do a "quick format" or not? It defaults to quick, try a complete format as well.

Did you were able to fix this? I have the exact same issue with my F-150 Lariat.

I have been using Sync2 v3.10 with no problems of dropped calls or other issues. I updated the version about 3 months ago. Ford owner website is where I got the 3.10 version I installed.

What the ford update site does not tell you is that once you have all of the files moved to the root of the USB drive, you need to delete the original zipped file from the root of the USB. I was having the same problem until I did this with my 2014 and then the installation went through without a hitch. Hope this helps!

Perhaps someone else has run into this -

I formatted a USB for exFAT and did the download. My '15 F250 says the USB is not in a recognized format.
Anyone else run into this?

Make sure your USB is a 2.0 not 3.0 (blue center) Sync can be very finicky.

Finally got it installed. I'll see this evening if it works.
I ended up chatting with Ford.
They told me the directions were wrong on the site
1) Don't use exFAT, use FAT32 instead
2) Don't download the zip file to the USB. Open the zip and transfer only the inside files
3) There are only three files, not four as shown

I wonder if Ford has updated their site to allow you to report the upgrade. The last few times I tried, It did not let me change directories and never uploaded the change report.
