While driving my 2016 F250 which I recently purchased, which has a little over 1000 miles. While driving on the interstate about 65-70 MPH I noticed my gas mileage was reduced to about 11 MPG, normally it is about 16+MPG. I noticed that the Turbo, Engine Boost Gauge was reading about 100 PSI, usually stay about at the zero mark. This situation lasted about 15 minutes, then it returned to normal, both the boost went down and the MPG went back to 16MPG. I did not change my speed. Wondering if this had anything to due with the vehicle's emission control system or the particulate filter regeneration cycle.
What you described is exactly what occurs during a regen cycle. You most likely missed the notification on the message center that said "Cleaning Exhaust Filter"
Yep that's a regen cycle. I would try and watch for the notification message when I first bought mine. Now I catch a glimpse of the fuel mileage gauge and see the boost above normal and it's in regen. When I go in for my oil change I'm going to ask them if they'll activate the blank screen on the display to show soot percentage. If they want to charge an arm and a leg i'll look into an aftermarket display.
Sounds exactly like a regen.. Did it have a funky smell when you parked? Mine smells like something is burning after a regen. Or at least has a hot smell if I drove a bunch after the regen ended.
smells like burning crayons....yes, i missed the notification the first few times and it was a head scratcher at first...
don't have that particular situation anymore.
