Just did a 475 mile round trip and have about 630 miles on my '17. No regen yet to my knowledge. Does the dash tell you. What happens if it starts to regen 5 minutes before pulling into my driveway and I can't spend 20 minutes driving around. Can I let it idle and do its thing? Does it tell you when it has stopped. tks
Short answers: no on the display. Regen will start again when you drive next. Yes, it will regen while idling. No, it does not tell you when it's finished.
So as a first time diesel driver it doesn't matter when a Regen occurs. I won't know it by a warning. I can shut down and never think about regen and if it is even happening. All I need to worry about is making sure my DEF tank has fluid in it. Tks

The only indication that a regen is going is the instant mileage will drop to the 11 mpg range for a period of time. 15-30 mins. When the active regen is complete, the instant mileage will run back up to normal whatever. You might also detect a little different engine sound or smell. Very subtle.

Thanks Epic. No regen for me then as my MPG has not dropped to these levels. So to clear up uncertainty on my end I am a few minutes from home and see my MPG drop all of a sudden and maybe hear an unusual engine sound. I can't drive around but need to park and shut down. It appears that is okay and the next time I drive the truck it will just start the regen where it left off. Doing this won't be bad or harmful to the engine or emissions equipment? tks

That's true. If you repeatedly shut down without completing the regen you'll notice your mileage is really bad because the truck is always trying to regenerate the DPF. If it goes on for too long, the truck will place a warning on the dash to DRIVE TO CLEAN and it will stay on until you acknowledge it. At that point you should consider yourself duly chastised and you need to go spend some quality time on the freeway with the beast.
This is dumb. I certainly want to know if it's in ReGen so I can leave it run and not interrupt it. FORD - Please add this feature, we all want to know.
you will smell it if you shut it down in the middle of a regen. Happened to me the other night when I pulled into the garage and had shut it down. Started back up and pulled outside and let it finish.
