I posted my progress on my conversion of my '91 with '90 Eddie Bauer parts some time ago. The 90 had a digital dash and the 91 standard. I moved the trip computer over, and all the signals where available from the "behind the dash" wiring harnesses except the "Fuel Flow Input". I ran a straight wire from output 34 of the EEC Module ("Data Output to Trip") and made my connection. Once I connected this wire I showed meaningful output on the display for all the mileage read outs, i.e. Instant MPG and Average MPG. There is one problem, however. The DTE readout is real screwy. Whe i start the car the display will show a value between 470 and 510. The for the first few minutes the display will count down which is what it should do (use gas less miles left to be driven). After about 5 to 10 minutes the display is constant (no value change). Then it starts going the other way (counting up) until the ignition is turned off. The other displays that use the Fuel Flow Input work properly....
Any thoughts??????

I think it's supposed to estimate distance to empty from remaining fuel and current (or average?) consumption rate (or inverse of mpg). I would expect initial mpg to be very low right after start up, and then go up as the engine warms up, and you start driving at some steady state. So if it's calculating the DTE with instantaneous mpg, then it can change depending on how you;re driving at the moment.

That's true up to a certain point....this thing never gets below 450 miles to go even with less than a quarter of a tank......
call or email Cardone, major rebuilder of ECU/PCM's....ask them if digi and analog dash ECU's are the same for your year model
don't be surprised to find several different sub models of ECU's for your year/model/options
or try a digi dash ECU

I have a '90 3.0 ECU (digital)...think that would work in my 91 3.0?
