Hi there everyone. I have a 2003 5.4l v8 triton 2 valve expedition. Recently got it from my father in law and i dont think he ever had it serviced. Changing out the number 4 plug rear passenger side the spark plug broke between the nut and the thread. There was alot of rust in the housing.
Wondering what tool i can use to get it out. Ive been soaking it with kano kroil and will try using a screw extractor to get it out.
Today I started her up and now there is a loud ticking noise coming from the area of the broken plug. I stuck my finger down in the hole and the noise became muffled also i could feel air blowing out. Ticking gets slower in idle and faster if revved.
Any ideas or tips would be amazing. I really dont want yo pay 2 grand for shop to pull the head. Thanks!
After more research and talking to some friends i think/hope the ticking sound is being caused by the broken plug coming loose due to the kroil. Can anyone confirm this diagnosis?
Wouldn't the noise have been there the whole time? I drove it a few times after the initial break and there was no tick. It didnt start until today. Broke last weekend. Thanks for the reply.
