I just took delivery of my 2017 F350 6.7L King Ranch SB SRW and I realized when I got home that the antenna is too long/high. It bends to an excessive degree going in and out of the garage (yes, very tight fit) and scratches the inside of the garage door. So, I removed the antenna.
I am looking for recommendations for what I understand are called "stubble" antennas. Thanks for any info.
I popped the ball off the end of mine and cut about 8" off then popped the ball back on. Shot it with a little black paint and it works great. Clears the garage nicely now. I have not noticed any issues with signal loss...and it was free

Brilliant!! I'm going to try that today. Then I'll compare it to the Stubby I ordered.

I cut my antenna down last night, but I couldn't get the ball off. How did you do that?

It took a little doing. I ended up using the vice with a rag to prevent too much damage and sort of worked it off of there. It is pressed on there pretty good. To get it back on I did have to file the antenna down a little since it must taper down at the top. After that, I got it started and gave it a couple good whacks on the floor and used a drop of gorilla glue as a precaution. I did take a bit of the paint off the ball which I touched up when I was done. All in all it took me about 15 minutes.
