I just got a 2016 F150 Sport and after adjusting the garage door to go up an extra 2 inches to get the truck in, my antenna drags across the door on the way in. I am just assuming that that will evidently damage it and break it off. I got a shorter antenna but can not get the factory one off. I am hoping that someone has run into the same issue and can give some advice on hoe to get the antenna off.
It's just screwed on. A little bit of counter-clockwise action with a small crescent wrench should take care of it. They are delivered without the antenna attached, so your dealership installed the factory one; shouldn't be on there too incredibly tight.
What Schlotzky said. A couple of the car washes I go to detach the antenna as a routine PM before running the truck through the wash/rinse/dry cycle. Looks like it's fairly straight forward.
Most of the antena bases are a 6mm, i am not sure what the f150 is because i have not removed my antena, but there are alot of replacement antenas from walmart/autozone/advance..etc. Motorcycle shops have some real nice short rubbers that get put on to touring bikes to replace them ugly whips that come with the bikes, they work excellent. Just grab your self a shorter antena, small crescent wrench is all you need, the parts store will probably do that for yah for free. good luck.

OP - if you remove yours for the first time, make sure you use an open ended wrench- not pliers. I accidentally scratched mine up - they used thread locker when my original antenna was installed.
