things to do before paint...

was going to start on a/c install today but still waiting on parts...
it got me thinking what else I have to do before paint... here’s my list, what can you think of to add to it.

all the body work is finished inside the cab ... wipers and window units are installed... seats and supports are done and waiting.. column hole is cut ...ebrake pedal is ready and cable is run Brake booster is ready to be bolted in. I'm basically looking for anything that needs holes or that might screw up fresh paint later.

1. Install a/c inside and thru bulkhead fitting.
2. Fix running board brace (under board)
3. Cut outs in under dash panel for a/c and switches... think I might put ignition, lights, wiper all in under panel
4. Cut any holes in dash that I may need (if any)
5. Patch holes in doors from window install
6. Insulate cab and doors
7. Mount Accelerator pedal and drill hole for cable
8. Figure out where wiring will exit dash and drill that hole
9. Final sanding on firewall (outside... waiting till cab is removed)
10 Figure out where speakers are going
11 Lower seat belt mounts
12 Mount catch for bear claw latches in door jam

rack your brain and think of anything else ??? I know something is being forgotten...
thanks

j

- Are you doing a 3 point seatbelt harness? Upper mount
- Seat mounts?
- Sounds like your doing a radio (speakers), Radio location? Also antenna mount
location?
- Sun visor(s)?
- Extra holes in dash or/and firewall plugs?
- Where are you going to attach wire harness and what are you going to use to
mount them (push in, Screw, and/or slide on clip mount) and where?
- Mirror mounting
- Cigar Liter (phone charger outlet)

are just a few that I could think of

More ideas

Arm rest backing ?
metal edging at door location to finish carpet edge ?
Using orignal screw locations for upholstery or "buttons" in panels (larger hole)
mount for interior light above rear window ?

thinking about the wiring and exit from the cab to front and back areas... want to keep the firewall as clean as possible so I'm looking for alternate exit points for the wiring... and want to keep as much wire hidden as possible. Tilt hood so no inner fenders to hide stuff behind... once I get it out of the cab it'll be easier...

down on the kickpanel is of course an option... any other suggestions ???
pictures would be welcomed

John,
I also wanted a clean firewall. I ran the wires thru upper left corner of the drivers side toeboard which on my F-1 exits just behind the front cab mount. The front wires are in the boxed forward portion of the frame and the rear wires are held in place with clips on the top of the lower flange of the frame rail. Just a few wires, distributor, AC clutch, oil pressure sender, etc are in the red wire loom low on the firewall. My heat and AC run under the right front fender, Not an option with a tilt hood.
