So I am getting ready to go on a trip and I was checking fluids and well......how hard is this to fix? I have a bum leg right now so that needs to be factored in. Please help.
This is the dipstick tube for the trans on a 2000 limited 7.3l 4x4.
Wow. That is a good one. Haven't seen that one before. You should be able to get a new tube without much problem. It is held in place by the top bolt of the tranny bell housing on the passenger side, which is a royal pain in the butt to get to without 3 feet of extensions on a ratchet. I am guessing that is the point where it broke off...
Does it leak trans fluid? If not, I would seal up the "stump" that's left and repair after the trip.
that was my plan b.
Here is what you get for $40 at Ford.
And for anyone wanting the part number.....
It is getting installed at a local shop here. If anyone needs trans work in the hemet/san Jacinto area in so cal I recommend blues transmission . Great people they squeezed me in on a very busy day. Price was less than a 5th of the stealership too.
