My position is a matter of collaboration so folks can make their own decision and learn from my own 1st hand experiences.

While both solutions are reasonable, keeping up with a special (small) release tool / hose (or remembering to carry it with me when traveling) is undesirable and negates the "flexibility" and desirability of an easy, clean, no tools required solution imo....

With the EZ Oil Drain Valve or the FoMoto i can go to any quick lube and never worry about getting my "release" tool or hose back for my next oil change.

OF COURSE "HE" does...he's selling you a competitive product.

I challenge anyone to share their 1st hand experience where a Fomoto (EZ Oil Drain) valve opened by accident. IT would seem that on this forum alone there are enough users of Fomoto (and EZ Oil Drain) valves that we would have someone step forward...broaden that across several additional forums (for trucks alone) - and again you'd think someone would have come forward....but thats not the case.

The Fomoto & EZ Oil Drain valves both have a built in safety - you must PRESS the (spring loaded) lever beyond the safety/cut out and THEN MOVE the lever to open it....its as unlikely that this will occur as it is that your No-Spill will vibrate or loosen on its threads or the plunger/stop will stick open.

if the press and turn of the Fomoto lever worry someone - they can add a safety clip that prevents BOTH of those actions.
I agree that sharing information on this forum is a good thing so folks can make a dicision on which quick drain system to use.
I usually don't like to get into a debate on a forum about product but I guess I'm in the mood because it's a Monday after a great holiday weekend.
First of all the guy from no spill did NOT solicit that Fumoto has had any failures. I specifically asked him out of curiousity since he was in the business. He was very professional but I pushed him for an answer.
My curiousity overwhelmed me so I did a quick google search. Yup, way too many failures for me. Albiet, mostly leaking but one guy had a rock hit the Fumoto valve while offroading at 17 mph and the valve started to leak. This was my biggest concern because I use my truck primarily off highway. Heck, even 10% of the folks who purchase through Amazon gave it one to two stars on review. Yes, mostly because of improper fit/application but way too many of them experienced leaking right out of the box.
I'm glad you like the Fumoto but I'll keep track of my drain hose and enjoy the peace of mind of my No Spill.

I've owned the fumoto and the Fram version of no spill on different cars. Both work. Trying to find fault in either is really a stretch. A well-placed hit against a rock could damage either, I suppose. I think the idea of the fumoto accidentally opening seems less likely than accidentally being sheared off, as it is brass and sticks out a bit. There is nothing off-quality about fumoto. Anyone saying that is ignorant about the current trends in manufacturing. Japan is widely regarded as having the highest quality standards in just about any industry. Germany and Switzerland are up there too. USA is on down the list...

They certainly taught the USA's big 3 a lesson from the late-70s and far into the 80s. In the motorcycling world, the Japanese bikes top the market in reliability with Harley lagging a ways behind, then BMW ranked below Harley with Can-Am bringing up the rear.
