Had my deal connect the upfitter switch wires to the wires that go threw the fire wall.
Under the hood he showed me the 4 wires and gave me this info.
Switch 1- white with orange stripe 25 amp
Switch 2- grey with orange stripe 25 amp
Switch 3- white 10 amp
Switch 4- brown with white stripe 15 amp
My question is, Did he connect to the right wires? They all seem to be the same gauge wires (small) and I'm wondering about the wire being ok for the 25 amp switch.
those wires I believe should be okay, most of the upfitters are using the same gauge wire and that will be the right wires they should be pretty close to the wireloom by the firewall on the driver side near the top.
unless your hooking us something with real crazy power you should be okay to use it, just use your judgement on what your hooking up and you should be good. Just Strokin's chart that he shared ought to help you.
Were there enough wires through the firewall for all 4 switches from the factory? Seems like I only remember enough wire for 1 or 2 switches coming through the firewall. But that may very likely only be my bad memory.
At any rate, I know it sure was fun battling around the master cylinder trying to splice into those firewall wires when I installed some strobes in the grill.
I did my own in half hour, not including the hour it took on the internet to figure out which wires to hook up. All you are doing is connecting 2 wires 4 times. I guess for has these connections here in case you want to hook up items in the cab rather than outside like lights and such
Hey guys-sorry to resurrect this thread but I thought I did it the same way but I must be missing something-I just posted this on the forum:
Hello,
I am wiring up a light bar where the front license plate goes. I ran the lead wire to the blunt cut white/orange wire tucked behind the fuse box. I ran my ground to the battery and flipped the switches on...nothing (while truck was on) . I have always had the indicator lights come on when the switches flip on which I assumed meant they were hot. Do i need to connect something under the dash as well? I am obviously missing something very easy. Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA.

i think the ground wire should be grounded to metal somewhere, not the battery
