P0401 Action Plan

Got a CEL set by P0401 0n my last tow. Nothing unusual on the tow - no smoke, no lack of power, etc. Cleared it at the campground and did not get a CEL on the way back. First time I've seen it in the 10K I've put on the truck.

I will probably address it during my next foray into the engine, so I thought I'd float some fixes and let the group add to them:

1. Pull & clean EGR valve (did about 9K miles ago after getting a position actual versus desired error - no such code present this time).
2. Clean IAT2 sensor.
3. Clean MAP sensor and hose.
4. Clean EBP sensor.
5. Clean MAF sensor
6. Inspect intake and exhaust loops for looseness.

From what I've read, the list above also reflects the likelihood of the cause.

Anything else to add?

When removing the MAP sensor
1) remove the hose at the intake barbed fitting first. Push a wire or paper clip through the barbed fitting on the intake to make sure it's clear.
2) remove the 3 stud nuts on the plate holding the map sensor. Remove it as a whole unit. Mount plate, sensor, & hose.
3) inspect the hose for cracks and replace if needed. If you must remove the hose, cut it very close to the map sensor nipple first and then use a razor blade to cut a slit down the side of the remaining hose thats left on to the plastic sensor nipple. That plastic nipple is extremely brittle & very poorly made so use caution on this $50+ sensor. Treat it like disarming a bomb LoL
