Might be doing one with the kid soon, his friends truck. It's an 05.
They had it out west pulling sleds and on the way back started surging up hills, EGR valve was nasty. Son pulled it and cleaned it, but owner wants the cooler gone at some point soon. I would leave the valve in place, as I understand it the 05's won't set the CEL so no need for a tuner to shut that off?
My question is this, do folks say to do the oil cooler at the same time?
Temp spreads are fine, IIRC 6 or 7*.........seems like it's not needed but I see there are kits that offer the oil cooler as well.
also if you decide to do an oil cooler do not get the cheap ones that come in the kits, i recommend riffraff diesel and the stuff clay sells. cheap oil coolers are notorious for the oring and gaskets deteriorating and causing hpop or ipr issues. good luck have fun and let the cursing begain.
Delta looks good, wouldn't bother replacing it. Backflushing the oil cooler would be a breeze & I would do it once the turbos off. Might be able to tighten the spread a few °. Would also do any updates needed while it's apart like HPOP stc, dummies/standpipes, turbo drain/feed, blue spring, etc.

This is the same one I did the STC and other stuff on already last fall, so at least that is out of the way. Good call on the blue spring though.
Randy, I have read several other threads of the 05 being able to just leave the valve plugged in and laying up top............not sure what to think. He won't want to buy a tuner.
Not all 05's will trip a light. Early builds and depending on the flash will depict if it sets a light. For instance I have an early build model year 05 with the EBP sensor on the thermostat housing (engine actually built in 04). It never set a light.
Appreciate the info. So where do the late builds mount the EBP? I would guess the odds are pretty good if his EBP is mounted where mine is, it might not throw a CEL.
So the light is actually tripped because the PCM senses the cooler is gone, correct?
Just leaving the EGR plugged in won't necessarily help keep a CEl away on a later build, it's just for proper fan operation I would assume.
Late builds mount on a tube directly to the manifold just under the degas tank, it's just kind of hanging there. Trips for low or no flow, keeps the fan working.
Looking at an 06 that's is deleted, so my only option to turn the light off is a tuner or send my pcm to Ipr, correct?
So what you are saying is it's already deleted and has a CEL?
If so, I would be sure it's not on for something else. If it's off, then the odds are it's already been turned off with a tuner.
