Help!! Frying Sensors

I have a 1998 Ford Explorer Sport with a 4.0L V6. Recently the check engine light came on with a code reading saying that the upper hose of DPFE sensor was off or blocked. I checked and the sensor was melted in half and the hose was burnt to nice crisp. I have no idea what to do. I've got to replace the DPFE sensor but i just want to make sure that i don't melt this one too. Thanks in advance.

Normally, there is no flow through the tubes, only a pressure potential so the heating is minimal. If the hose slipps off from some maintenance work or develops a crack, hot exhaust is directed right to the sensor. I wouldn't be concerned as long as you replace both of these high temperature hoses.

If the converter is partially plugged, it can melt the sensor.
