2004 explorer transmission problem

My daughter has a 2004 explorer with 170k miles. we drained the fluid out of transmission pan and installed a new filter and re-installed pan and refilled. Set e-brake and started vehicle. shifted transmission into all gears but it doesn't engage. released e-brake and vehicle will not move in any gear. transmission doesn't even shift out of park. checked to see if linkage somehow got knocked off but it is fine. have never had a transmission do this before. the only thing else we did was after the fluid was drained, we put vehicle in neutral and pushed it backwards about 40 feet. NEVER STARTED ENGINE UNTIL FILTER AND REFILLED WITH FLUID. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

How much fluid came out? And how much went back in?

Did your new filter have the rubber seals installed, I have seen these left off before. Fluid level can be tricky with these.

Wont shift out of park? Will the shifter move out of park but the transmission wont?
