Side mirror help

Hi guys, I just bought a 1999 expedition with signal mirrors. The glass is horrible but not broken. So I bought some replacement glass. When I went to install the glass today, I noticed the mirror backing plate was very loose and it is not solid. I looked at the back and noticed the there are little white pins holding it in place or guiding it. When I looked at the driver side there is 4. The passenger side only had two.

Does anyone know where I can get the pins I need? I looked around the net and couldn't come up with anything. I am not really sure they are called pins though.

Thanks

Part for a mirror assemble would be pretty hard to find. You might be better off going to a local junkyard and buying a broken mirror for cheap, and then scavenging the parts from it.

I had thought of that, but I want to try to find new ones first. I am not sure what happened to the old ones, but I imagine they broke off or someone took the mirror off at some point and lost them. Either way, I can't go around with a floppy mirror.
Thanks.

So after a lot of searching, I found out some proper names for these pins. Drive Pins, Jack Screws, Friction Pins. I also found out that MUTH was the original maker of the stock mirrors for Ford. I have sent MUTH an email asking if someone could purchase just the pins. I did find through a web search that back in 2002 or so, you could still by them direct for about $5 each. Hopefully that is still the case. I will update this thread when I get a response for all those interested.

Further research has led me to these two part numbers.

Jack Screw #080-0023-0
Friction Pin #080-0027-0

I am awaiting to hear from MUTH on pricing. I will keep you posted. They sent me a nice PDF of with a bunch of different pictures of mirror parts. I don't know how to attach a PDF here, but if you need it or just want it for your records shoot me an email and I will send it to you.
