Unhappy sideswiped!!

Hi. Could anyone steer my in the right direction?? I need info on how to install a new spot mirror on my F350. While driving home last week, an SUV coming the other way hit my driver side mirror and broke the spot mirror. I'd like to do the work myself and just get a replacement spot mirror from a junkyard. Any ideas?? Will I have to replace the whole thing or just the spot mirror??

In my experience with broken mirror glass, you'll prob have to replace the whole mirror. A junk yard wont sell pieces anymore unless it's off of something broken. Hell, last time I tried to buy some mirrors for an older truck I had, they would sell the whole door with the mirror, not just the mirror. Junk yards are in the insurance supply business thse days. You may find a glass shop that's able to replace the spot mirror. I would even try at the dealer parts dept, sometimes they surpise me with what they have.

Like JKBrad said, I would try a glass shop. My brother had a broken mirror on his Dodge and the dealership said he had to replace the whole mirror assembly. The local glass shop hooked him up with just the glass he needed for a lot less.
