power window problems
Hi guys,
Here's what I got, Truck details are in my sig. This morning while leaving my father in laws with my family I noticed the rear passenger window was down a couple inches, tried to put it back up and it didn't move. Could hear motor working though. Ran it down a bit and it went further down, but then wouldn't go up. Could hear motor running again and almost some scratching sounds. So turned around and went back to my in laws. We got the door panel off and were able to get the window most of the way up, then taped around it inside and out to keep it up, then drove family home about 2.5 hours. So I have panel off now but no idea what's wrong. Like I said, it doesn't seem to be held up by anything, like it is stripped or slipped or something. I do have power to the motor as you can hear it running both up and down. I am very unfamiliar with this, I can see the two tracks the window runs on, and see where the cable seems to go in, but I have no clue what's wrong. Is anyone familiar with this? Is this a semi easy fix, or do I need to take it in? Thanks to anyone that knows.

Probably not much help for this new of truck. I know the obs ford trucks had a tendency to to go down and not up and that issue was in the motor driver itself. those could be repaired with 3 round plastic disks/***** that would deteriorate over time by opening the drive case. not sure about the new ones.
Thanks Boots! I actually fixed it. Put a a new window regulator on from auto zone. $118. I did a little more research and found out that was likely the problem. Sure enough the old cable had come off and was all wrapped up and sheared on the pulley. Not too bad of a job overall. Getting new one in(its pretty tight) is the hardest part, but its not too terrible. anyway, it is all fixed and good to go!! Thank goodness for youtube.!! and this site!!
