Maybe the switch on the door panel is bad. I replaced all of my door lock and window switches several years ago. Now my passenger one is intermitent and only works after you press it a few times. You can get a new one from Orielly for 10 bucks. I am going to be picking one up soon.

Certainly worth trying, but the window wouldn't work from either the drivers side or the passenger side switch (it was the passenger window).
I ahve a similar problem on my 90 F150. I think it has something to do with the stops or motor binding but have not had the time to figure it out. Mine seems to go down to far. Sometimes I can lift the glass and hit the button at the same time and it will work. A real pain when you get caught in the rain. Make sure the mechanism is properly lubricated and that everything is adjusted correctly. These motors are not very powerful. If anyone knows the proper lubricant for windows please let me know
Also make sure there is grease on the nylon rollers on the regulator. Any grease will work. I usually just use what ever is in the grease gun. Marine grease would be good since it is less apt to wash away.
