Chunks in water pump

Pulled into the drive the other day with coolant blowing out everywhere. Decided it was the water pump, pulled it off and now I'm finding little chunks in there. What could this be? They're about 1/32 in. In diameter. Feels kind of rubbery and it's all resting at the bottom.

And help would be appreciated. Thanks

Sorry can't help you to much on this one. But I suppose it could possible be part of the head gasket or some other seal that is in contact with coolant.

The previous owner probably added some sort of stop-leak. Replace the water pump and flush the cooling system, preferably back-flush it, too. Maybe buy a cooling system flush product and follow the directions, once clean, fill with fresh coolant.

If it feels rubbery, it COULD be rubber. From old coolant hoses that the insides are eroding out.

Erosion suddenly stops... when the hose lets go
