Sniper EFI Self-Tuning Kit with Shiny Finish

Holley 550-510: Sniper EFI Self-Tuning Kit with Shiny Finish | JEGS

Would anyone be able to provide any feedback about this system? I am considering installing one on my 68 351w.

Whoa did you change names? My bad. I thought someone else was chiming in with no topical relation to your original post. It's just weird to quote yourself only in the second post.

EFI.. I watched a recent test and yes, EFI resulted in slightly more HP and TQ. You'll like the easier cold starts and overall driveability. Better yet if on a 4x4 cuz float angles are taken out of the equation so long as ya do a return system and not a returnless or sump system.

I'm running Edelbrock's E-Street V1.0... would like a 2.0 since it can be run off an Android phone app. C'est l'vie as an early adopter.

Im currently tying to decide between the holley and edelbrock. Did it improve your fuel mileage any?

Mileage may well go down with EFI believe it or not. Not compared with a mis-tuned carb, but.

I installed a Tremec TKO at the same time so I am unable to state the net gain attributable to the E-street alone. But squeezing 18.7 MPG (highway) out of a 360FE isn't anything to sneeze at because most FTE'ers only get between 10 and 12 MPG.

I don't think you can go wrong with either a Holley or Eddy E-Street. Both are large companies with an historical track record and both are bound to say around for a long time unlike smaller companies like Quick Fuel or Fi-Tech.

Last year Holley bought up MSD and it doesn't make sense from a business standpoint that Holley would keep developing and supporting the MSD Atomic EFI since they have their own systems like Sniper, Terminator, and Pro-Jection.

I've run a first gen Holley system, and that has turned me off to the brand entirely. They basically eliminated support and parts for it after just a few years, and the system itself was crap. TBI isn't hard to do, but for some reason they completely screwed this one up. I'm currently looking at a system from FiTech myself for my box van, I'm hoping to get better than 5.5mpg out of it.

I've looked into the FiTech and have even called them about the TV cable for the AOD. I want to make sure I can get the proper adjustment so I don't burn the EFI.

FiTech does a lot of advertising especially on Velocity channel. Also their support seems pretty good. And the 400hp unit is only $795.

Im looking into both Fitech and holley sniper, I'm leaning towards sniper for now, I like how they give you everything in the master kit that you could need,... fuel pump, 40' of high pressure line and all the fittings you want. how reliable are their pumps? and about the self learning part, if its not cold all summer and all of a sudden in the fall, its -30, would it account for that and start fine? or would it need too learn how too start in cold weather?

It may stumble a bit at first, but most EFI systems work off a basic fueling map until the oxygen sensor heats up. This map is keyed to RPM, vacuum, throttle position, and temperature.

These units prime for a few sec. for cold starting, may be you'll have to switch key on & off two times for a long prime as you learn what is needed for a good cold start up.
