A week ago I pulled out my headlights and the headlights came on but the taillight and interior lights were still off. I pushed in the switch very slowly and the interior lights flickered, so I thought, oh it has to be the headlight switch. After I fiddled getting the switch in the perfect spot all came on.
Yesterday I went to Orielys and got a new switch and I installed it in the parking lot, Well the damn thing did the same exact thing so I went back for a different brand and it did the same thing.
I am lost and I need some help before I wire in 4 different switches for each one.
Check your fuses. The taillights and dash lights are on a different fuse than the headlights, IIRC. I did the same thing on my '90 F150 about 20 years ago, replaced headlight switch, found out my trailer had an intermittent short that blew the taillight fuse. I drove all the way home from AR to TX with the switch kind of in-between as you found to make the taillights work.
