I plugged in the android app finally on my phone and I really like it. The way I was charging my phone before was under the center armrest console and the lid has a cut out and keeps everything neat an organized. I am using an adaptor with a USB connector inside.
Is the only other USB plug In the sliding door? I am tempted to drill a hole to the armrest and run the cable straight there or to the outside pocket near my right leg...I hate keeping that door open and all of that wire everywhere. I know I can just put the phone in the compartment with the sliding door but it is already full of stuff and seems like with all of the opening and closing the sliding door will prematurely fail.
they should have notched a groove so you can close the door with the wire sticking out much like they did with the center console. perhaps the idea was to keep the phone out of reach so you don't use it while driving....nonetheless, I am with you and found this design element to be poorly thought out. what if instead of drilling a hole, you used a dremel to make your own notch in the door?

I have a dremel, but hate to cut through that fine piece of art/wood/plastic.....
Can't wait to see it. Hopefully relatively inexpensive.
so I try not to touch the phone much while driving so I typically have it in a phone mount on my lower center windshield. I hated having charging/sync cable wires draped down the front of the center stack so I pulled one USB mini wire and one lightning cable from below the driver side lower dash panel upto the top of the center stack. I then drilled two small holes in the center top stow tray and pulled the cords through and have them laid in there for when I need either one or both of the cords. There is over a foot of loose wire slack inside the dash so I can push and pull as much cable as I need.
Below the dash I currently have the two USB ends of the cables plugged into a 12v charging adapter that is plugged into a hard wired 12v power point that's wired to my #6 upitter and I have the relay set to it can be powered with key off. I don't typically need to plug my devices into the USB port in the tray however if I want I can't easily reach down and pull the USB cord out of the 12v source and run it into my tray port.
