Thumbs down Door Cup Holders...

I don't like the door cup holders. Is there really a need for these to be there? There's already 4 cup holders between the driver and passenger seats, 2 on the dash and 2 in the center console. Every time I get out of the truck, my shoes hit the door cupholders and leave black marks on the door. I tried buffing the marks out, but they're not coming out hardly at all. Anyone know of anything I can use to get the scuff marks out and how to prevent scuffing the door. I know that I could just watch my feet closely every single time I get out of the truck, but it's easier said than done.

Suggestions?

TIA,

Sully

They're not really cup holders but BOTTLE holders, the 20-oz. kind. As for the scuffs, go to a crafts store (or housewares/ fabric dept. @ K-Mart, maybe?) and pick up a sheet of adhesive felt. Cut out a piece to cover the area, peel off the backing and adhere it to the area you keep scuffing. Kind of a poor-man's substitute for the carpeting that they USED to put on the bottom of the doors.

That isn't a bad idea..come to think about it, it is also an idea to make some money by producing a template for the different color possibilities and selling as an afterfmarket option!!!

I thought about doing that as well. I might have to really check into that. If I would do it, I would cover the entire bottom part of the door for a uniformed look instead of a patch job. hmmmm, ideas popping into mind...

I think it is a good place for your passenger to hide his beer if your pulled over. I dont drink and drive but a passenger can get an open container ticket even if he is just a passenger

Lot's of fun if you slam the doors closed while the holders contain an open bottle or can.

Mine are scuffed badly from hitting my boots on them too. I guess cup holder wars are kinda like the HP wars. He with the most wins. Personally, I rather have them fold out when needed or something, keeping out of the way of my feet.

I can't even fit a Circle K or QT 32oz cup in them.
I use it to hold my duct tape or trash. I totally scuffed mine
up. It's cool though.

I have yet to have that problem in the F-150, but I did have that problem in my Dakota.
Anyway, as for the scuffs; use Tire Wet on a dry terry cloth. This will hide all of the marks with minimal effort expense, plus it will add a nice cherry scent. However, I do not recommend using this product on your dash as it will create a dust sludge that is extremely hard to get off.
Also, if any of you have the black floor mats and have this same problem, use low-gloss armor-all to hide your marks. The low gloss is not as slick as the High-gloss.
Hope this helps!!
