overhead console

is there any place that just sells the doors for the overhead consoles?

i.e. one is the garage door opener / the other is the sunglass holder

my garage door opener compartment door has broken its hinge, and I have it rigged now and it stays closed, but I would like to use it and that means needing a new door with good hinges

I do not want to buy an entire console for the stupid door

thanks

Jamie

I think you might have to Jamie. But maybe you could try looking on eBay for one.

I'm not sure how integrated the HomeLink bit is, if it's just the visor, you might want to try getting one of those for your garage door, and then putting 12v to it, which you can probably jumper from the visor mirror lights.

thanks for the info guys, I was worried that no one would sell the damn doors by themselves

the wreck yards may be an option, I will have to call around and see if I can find a yard around here - not going to be in my town, but maybe Fort lauderdale has one or two

Ed (aka Ford Parts Guy Ed, formerly known as FTEPartsGuyEd), who goes by the user name "Y2KFordParts" is a supporting vendor here. He runs the parts department at Y2K Ford. Send him a PM and he can check to see if the console door can be purchased by itself.

Stewart

Edit: I just saw your post count. You can't use PM's until after 25 posts, so I sent Ed a PM link to this thread for you.

Damn...I did it again Ed.

Actually I didn't think the door itself would be available. I remember I couldn't get the motors that adjust the power mirrors without buying an entire mirror. Guess I figured it'd be the same with a door.

You're welcome buddy. Gotta take care of the guys who take care of me, ya know?

I dunno if Clay told you or not, but I won't be able to make Tech Day 2 at Marks. I just don't have enough cash for the drive up to Oregon.

If possible though, I'd like you to bring some stuff down with you to the Tech Day, so Pete can bring them back to me. One of the items I want is that spare tire key I showed you at the first Tech Day.

I'll send you a PM soon bro.

I thought the doors were ONLY available by buying the entire overhead consol. I replaced console 3 years ago when the truck was stolen. My wife opened the door opener when she could not get the garage door open (too far away). put pressure on the door and broke it off. I tried to find a replacement door but was told they were not available for the 2000 Excursion. Dah.. Now I am stuck with broken door also.

well I had to buy the whole console about 3 years ago also.

my entire console started hanging down about 1/2 inch and when we went to get it fixed we had to get a whole new one - $400 or somehting like that at Ford Employee costs

hope the door is available by itself

thanks for the help guys
