2003 Excursion swapping to 2000 Power
For peace of mind I would say absolutely, but to be honest i have never changed cups on more than a few motors out of the motor swaps we have done under the owners direction.
You read the dreaded thread cups here and there but they rarely fail IMO. That being said a cup job while doing injectors and having the motor out is worth it weight in gold vs doing it in the truck. If you want to do it, do it once and do it right and know you are set for likely the life of ownership of the truck(if you plan on hanging onto it for a long time). If you do decide to do it, reinstall is critical. I'd inspect them closely and if motor still in the ebus at least pressure test the cooling system and see. overpressuring is ok to an extent... The most costly part of the install is the tool, rent it or buy it is an option. If you buy it from RRaff, id offer to purchase it after you install as I have used a second hand unit from an old ford mechanic that is about done
