A friend has a '05 F-550 and I ran the A/E on it and came up with 4 codes;
Turbo, CPS, PCM, and an exhaust pressure code. No inj. codes.
He took it to a shop since I was not able to work on in a timely manner and the dude told him it had 3 bad inj. and he would change them out for $280. each plus the core (refundable) and 4 hours labor @$90. per.
I do not believe one man can change out 4 inj. and turn it around in 4 hours. Is this a scam?
I had prices of $201. and $211. each for the inj. so there is a industry standard mark up.
If the three injectors are on the same bank, then 4 hours is pretty doable. A 6.0 tech that does a lot of these could probably do both sides in 4 hrs. Why no injector codes though? I think your friend needs to make sure they have the diagnosis right before he starts replacing things. And definitely want to insist on Ford reman injectors
No, he supposed to change out all 8. I checked with the one supplier and he said same thing. Fix/check each code before buying the inj. Not one inj. code or problem when doing on board tests.
I dunno. I own/drive the 7.3 PSD myself and I know I can't change all 8 inj. in 4 hours.

I mean you did say 4 injectors right there....which would be very do able.....but to change out all 8 like Benny said is almost unheard of unless someone filled the truck with gasoline instead of diesel...
I would find a different shop and get a different opinion before dumping all that cash!
I did mine in my Ex,all 8 in 6 hours with interruptions in my driveway. The only reason I changed them was because I had no history on the vehicle and I had no idea what was done for maintenance on the truck and it had over 200 thousand on the clock. You got to find a shop that has IDS or your just wasting money.
Whenever I get my big rigs oil changed they tell me I'm not allowed to be in the shop due to insurance regulations. I simply tell them my great west 1 million dollar insurance coverage blows the doors off their shop insurance policies as long as I'm with my truck. They normally don't give me any problems, but occasionally I have to teach the shop forman about insurance policies.
Granted our 6.0s fall under a different policy, but i would simply say if i can't see the work being done I'll take it elsewhere that I can.
