69 ford 360 rebuild
hi i was going through my engine and replacing all my gaskets and noticed some scaring on the cylinder walls so i decided to dig a little bit deeper and when i pulled everything apart i had the top compression ring on 5 cylinders come out in multiple pieces so i just sent it of the the machine shop to make the scars go away and was wondering if anyone had some tips on putting it all back together im ordering a complete rebuild kit off of eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/262383798315?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT any help would be great this is my first

I used Steve Christ's book to help me with my first FE rebuild.

Tip: When installing the rocker shafts onto the heads make sure that the bolt with the re leaved shaft goes into the correct hole... this is how the shaft gets it's oil. When tightening the rocker shaft bolts, tighten each one gradually until you reach torque value. Make sure head gaskets go on correctly... I think the drives side one get's flipped. If you don't it affects the coolant flow. Getting the intake to seal is a science... read up!

Here is a very good book that walks you thru the FE engine building process in great detail with tips/tricks included. I am surprised at the price though this used to be a $10-15 book. I am pretty sure that I have 2 copies I will check later today and if so I can send you one of mine.

Do you just want to stay with "faithful pooch" 360, or step up to "guard dog" 390, or go "trained killer"?
