The good and the bad.

The good: The water level in our well is 50' above "normal", so we got lots o' water... Wind gusts were hitting 83 MPH yesterday, and nothing important blew away (that's good news of a sort). Things sure are turning green!

The bad: Power is out again with no ETR. Need to run to 4 corners to refill jerry cans. Things outside are way beyond soggy. I sink into the ground on every step.

The indifferent: We've gotten ~~ 5-1/2" of rain for this last storm. More rain falling as I type.

A beautiful day here. Weather guessers claim showers all day, but so far, nothing.

It is kind of nice right now. We're getting alternating blue sky/fog. Can see out to the coast "mostly", and the rain appears to have stopped around 9 this morning. A few days of nice before the next deluge.

Yea if you look closely a RV , horse trailer, and a couple pickup trucks , the gun club is under , turtle beach is under, army core is talking about diversion busting the levee at turtle beech and making it refeed the river, if this happens it will be out of control flooding Islander and parts of Airport road to 120 then City of Tracy will get the Wave for Surfs up dudes, I think leave it and keep fixing the levees eventually water will recede until snow pack melts

I have been reading through this thread. You are have a good winter up there in the mountains and else where..
I use to work in that section for Caltrans, worked out of the Saratoga Gap maintenance station corner of Hwy9 and 35. Worked out of that yard 29 years, retired back in 06 after 37.5 years.
Plowed a lot of Snow on that road all hours of the night, early morning sanding to keep the idiots from sliding off the road, and then they would pass while the sander was going.

Seeing that water tank on the left, it looks familiar, but don`t remember the Post Mile, can`t read the number on the sign on the right.

Very familiar with Hwy`s 9, 35, 236, were our roads and worked on 84, and 92 also...OH and Hwy 1, 17 when got loaned out.

Been through a few bad winters up there. 82 was a bad year also and I think 96 but not quite as bad.
Think Jan 82 we got something like 27 inches in 24 hours. I got 168.5 hrs of over time that month besides the 160 normal hours.

Maybe Gov Moon Beam can use some of his Bullet train money to fix this? LOL

Guess I got out of Kali land just at the right time. Love it here in Nevada, Cold though, 21 this morning, but we too have an over abundance of water here and some flooding. heard last week we are 247% over normal.

Ya get a dry year, they complain about the fire hazards with the brush, ya get a wet year, they complain about the brush/weeds growing and the fire hazard. Can`t win.

Some one mentioned the Water Gods. Over here in Nevada, there is a group that wants meters on every well in the State.

That's right about mile marker 16, between Castle Rock State Park and the Las Cumbres community. People on the south side of that slip are "almost" cut off now. There is another (partial) slip just before Las Cumbres (a little farther to the south). The 4 or 5 homes in between will be effectively isolated if that one goes the rest of the way.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I use to know all the Post Mile markers, been away from it for 10 years.

That slip out will go out to bid and a Contractor will be in there fixing it.
way to wet to do much now. They`ll put some "K" Rail across the road to keep some one from dropping in.
Don`t remember 35 from Hwy 9 to black road dropping out like that, how ever the "Goat Trail", Black road to Bear Creek Rd. had some pretty good slip outs from time to time. And Bear Crk. between Summit Rd and Sky Line is Caltrans also, that is a problem area. Have had slides there that closed it for a few days. That cuts off the commuters between Boulder crk. and Hwy 17.

Nice area to live, but the winters can be a PITA at times. 76 think we had 3ft of snow and that closed every thing down.

Main thing is we hope no one get`s hurt getting through the winter.

Highway 9 from Skyline to Saratoga has been closed most of the last month. For a day or two, it was opening/closing on an almost hourly basis. Then someone had a boulder roll into their truck, and they decided to close it for a week. Then 2 weeks. Then 3 weeks.

It's listed as scheduled to open tonight at midnight. We will see.

Happy Freezing weekend Nor Cal. No rain in sight for the next 10 days according to the weather guessers. However, I have been using my heater a lot more lately due to the frigid cold. Brrr
