AWD bumpside, ever been done?

I have seen the Crown Victoria frame swaps.
I like the new under an old skin, but want AWD for my daily.
A couple of years ago, I saw a 65 F100 on a Mountaineer frame.
Anyone built a 67-72 on a Explorer frame?

Not that I know of.... a shortbed Bump is still gonna be a few inches longer wheelbase-wise than a ladder-framed Explorer.

Doable I figure.

I'll sell you my 98 Explorer (cheap), and you can try it. You're not that far away either.

I'm not a capable builder, but thanks for the offer.
Was hoping someone was tired of theirs, and wanted to sell.

Saw a video of a 47 pickup on 97 Explorer 2wd frame.
He was showing the underside.
2wd Explorer had the front differential.. Was missing front CV axles, dash switch and maybe a transfer case from the factory.

2002-2010 Explorers were larger and also had independent rear suspension. I have a 2002 with a 4.6, and it is a nice ride. It's not a true AWD, it's an automatic 4x4 with lock and low positions.
I'd love to build a hot rod on one of those chassis with a V10.

A couple of inches is easy to cheat.. but more than that and body surgery is required.

The Mountaineer donor for the 65 was 2004 MY.
Seems like a better fit for the bigger 67.

If you have money but no time, you could probably contact a laid off top quality mechanic to build it for you. Although it'd take probably 120-140hrs plus paint time and any other custom bits beyond a stock Explorer chassis, just for the external appearance. Interior could be from 30 to rediculous hours depending on what you want.

Check local C/L, etc. for equipment that came from failed restaurants. Cheaper in theory.
