EGR, cat, and muffler delete
IPR replaced roughly 10k miles ago
New oil cooler roughly 15k ago
Replaced turbo Y up pipe 15k ago
Replaced radiator, idler pulley, and serp belt roughly 50k ago
I've got a strange squeal sound coming from under the hood only when truck is cold? It sounds like a bearing and after it gets heated up the sound stops. I talked with a guy thats a cummins guy and he said he had a similar issue and he had to replace the bearing in the turbo? Dunno if anyone has had this issue. Any help is appreciated. Also when truck is warm it will still do it, like for instance, if I run in a store and truck idles for 5-10 mins it will do it only if I romp on it for a short while like 2-3 mins then again goes away. And if I'm idling or in neutral, hot/cold, it does not do it, it seems to be only under a load. Pull a 26 foot boat no problems.

Is it constant when cold or more of a tweet/tweet? Under warranty I had my belt changed 3 times, then they finally replaced the idler and tensioner pulleys with the belt. Each time they just did the belt it would go away for a bit. Then it went for good with the pulley change out.
Mine would also only do it on cold start and in winter. If it Isn't constant, you could start by going to a gatorback belt instead of OEM.
I've heard this complaint before, but in my experience bearings usually squeal when they get warmer, but not sure that's the case with our belt pulleys.
There was a recent thread on here with solutions on the pulleys from re-greasing them to replacing just the bearings to replacing the pulleys themselves -- I'll see if I can find it....

You are assuming that the idler pulley replaced 50k ago was actually manufactured to last longer then 50k.
Squeal that goes away is either because you ran over a pig and it is now dead, or the idler pulley, or the alternator bearings, or possibly the water pump, or possibly the AC compressor engagement.
Free up the serpentine belt and start wiggling things, anything that wiggles is candidate for replacement - the big pulley at the bottom is really expensive to replace as it has the crankshaft attached, so let's hope it does not wiggle.
I'd definitely do the idler bearings. Torque is 35 ft lbs on reassemble. While you have them off take a pick and run it through each groove on the pulley. Usually the grooves are packed with old rubber/debris.

When the engine is cold, ( by cold, I mean the engine is cold, I live in florida doesn't get too cold down here) if I keep the rpm's at a minimum and slowly get up to speed it doesn't do it, or it chirps ever so slightly, but if i get on it it'll squeal then stop when the engine is warm, it is definitely throttle or rpm sensitive when the squeal is occurring.
I'll check the idler pulley grooves and all that jazz too, I've heard a belt squeal before this is a different sound, but I will check into it, rule it out. The last time I replaced the serp belt and just a roller with a bearing, (it literally is a bearing with a roller and a bolt into the block) the bearing made a grinding sound for about a week then grenaded itself and took the belt with it.
Yeah, the chirp, chirp is a more accurate sound description. Mine only did it until it warmed up and really only idle or just off idle, or coasting down hill while still cold....
