I'm replacing the air cleaner with a new fancy chrome one. My question is, what do I do with the old hoses? Obviously the new setup doesn't have any connections for the pre heater hose or the air intake hose. Is it safe to juse leave them unplugged or is there a conversion kit available? I'm running a 76' f250 460. Thanks
Just did my 77 last week. Mine had no snorkel, and no snorkel hose, so I removed the plastic "air box" and also ran a section of 5/8 heater hose to the air cleaner base for the PCV
X2 on the air cleaner hose. I'll take second in line on it if no cracks.
I have neither of those hooked up on my truck right now and there isn't any detrimental issue. The heater hose to the manifold just lets warm air get to your air cleaner to help operate the thermostatic mechanism. Your new open air cleaner doesn't mess with all that. So yes, you can just not use them with no issues.
You can remove the black flex hose and the plastic piece bolted on the back side of the core support. And I am pretty sure you can remove the silver flex piece off the heat shield and it will be ok.
The rectangular hose is the snorkel hose I was referring to. One end went to the air cleaner housing and the other went to a duct that mounts to the radiator support.
the metal flex supplies hot air from the exhaust manifold to the air cleaner housing. There's probably a support bracket that mounts using the exhaust manifold bolts
Take it all out, as you're no longer using any of it
somebody might want the duct and snorkel hose if they're in decent shape
I'm interested in the snorkel off the stock air cleaner you removed if you can provide me a pic.
BTW once you remove the plastic plenum that goes to the radiator support, there will be an opening/hole in the support; no big deal but there is a block off plate for trucks without that plenum.
Can get you a pic of the blockoff plate if you're interested.
Thanks

Thanks for all of the replies. I'll be keeping all of the original parts. I know how much of a pain it is to either track them down, or pay for them. I appreciate all of your help. Thank you.

NumberDummy,
I'm looking for a vacuum hose diagram for 77 F150 with 460. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
