Anyone know the purpose of the small (3/4" or 1") hose on the intake (front) side of the factory air cleaner box? Just curious.

 

Just for fresh air. No ryme or reason.

 

I once was told a semilogical/believeable explanation.
The 6.0 draws its air in thru a little plastic horn from outside the engine compartment.
Cooler air at highway speeds in a heavy rain you can draw in water and it gives it a place to drain off since it faces down.
However I have never seen anything written for this.

 

Interesting question. Do I have my air filter housing up side down? My smaller hose is on the top.

I thought it was for that one time that snow
blocks the normal intake. Or the squirrel gets
sucked in and you can't tell me that would not
suck for the squirrel.
