strange no start problem

strange no start problem
I love my bronco. Used it to jump a little geo metro the other day, and now it shorts out when I try to start it, i have to disconnect the battery cables and it resets, teh power comes back, but if i try to start it again, it shorts again, any ideas?

sorry, am just anxious to get it running. 1988 with a 302 v8 fuel injected. I'm trying to get a 351 to rebuild for it, but that will come with time and money.
