Hello, my question is if anyone has experienced excessive swaying with their truck at higher speeds? I have 35 inch tires on my f250 and a couple people I've talked to say I should have a steering stabilizer. But I have also been told that those are a waste of money and don't really fix the problem. I would just like some answers before I make a purchase. Thanks to everyone who replies.
You don't say what year F250 but if you don't have one .... and I don't know what year or if F250's even come with a stabilizer I would install a GOOD one. Do a search on the forum for previous threads and you can also look at youtube for some installation videos.
People are right that an ideal truck with no component wear and perfectly balanced tires wouldn't ever need one. But that's never going to be the case in the real world, especially with those 35" tires playing with each other via the tierod. A good SS will keep problems from ever getting out of hand and cover for a lot of the small wear and imbalance issues a solid front axle truck has.
My fault, I own a 2005 f250, 6.0, 4x4. First time posting on a forum and forgot that the description of the vehicle is key lol. My plan is too get a SS with dual shock absorbers and replace the bearings in the front and get tires rotated and balanced with front end alignment. Opinions on this plan are welcome. Honestly I don't know to much about vehicles as I'am in the process of learning. Thanks for all the replies everyone, its greatly appreciated!

All that is sound, I'd also take a look at the tierod ends and make sure they don't need replacing too.
Dual stabilizers worked well on my '05. But, if there was any part starting to wear I learned to early to replace it right away. Tie rod ends, ball joints, trac bar, they all seem to wear sooner than later, and when they did I really noticed the sloppy steering. I got in the habit of checking the tolerances regularly and replacing parts quickly. With 38's, my truck went down the road very well. Tyler Harris, you'll learn quickly that larger tires strain the front end. Don't hesitate to replace parts quickly when they start to wear otherwise it seems to snowball and lots of other parts need replacing. Just my 2 bits. Good luck.
