Ah-ha! This is exactly why I enjoy this forum...great info! Had no idea the speed adjusted in conjunction with how hard it was raining. Thought is was just an on/off feature. Thanks!
I had an 89' F150 and the wipers just had on and fast. When it would mist rain on and off, it was a PITA to keep reaching to turn on, then off. Dang-it, back on again. Now I'm spoiled and also treating myself with some luxury, for the years i've worked.
There must be a new generation of truck buyers. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE all the tech these trucks have to offer. But some of the comments here have me shaking my head and laughing:
- I can't add background pics to my radio
- I have to hold my foot on the brake and wait a whole 2 secs for the engine to start.
- Why won't the mirrors auto-fold / unfold. I actually have to push a button?
- I wish the doors would unlock when I walk away, so I wouldn't have to push a button.
- Why can't I scroll through the FM stations with the button on my steering wheel...I have to reach ALL THE WAY over to the radio.
- Why isn't the seat heater control on the radio screen? The physical control is what 6" below the screen?
- Why don't we have USB ports in the back
- Why doesn't Ford have Wifi available?
- Why can't I remote start from my smartphone?
- My seats don't cool my **** enough.
And the list goes on and on and on....
These are trucks folks with SOME luxury car features. You are paying for the capability of hauling and towing what a Mercedes E-Class, BMW 7 series, Audi or Lexus cannot do.
I guess the good news is that no one is saying:
Why won't my truck tow more?
Again, this no stab at any one individual, just a collective "Wow, is this what truck owners are REALLY concerned about these days?"
Dont forget the truck tried to kill me because the ACC was set to high for the road. Truck should know better. Give me a break
I agree! Does anyone remember the options or "lack there of" these Trucks had 20 years ago?
No kidding! I traded in my '96 F250 Supercab Powerstroke. What a world of difference! I thought I loved my '96. I forgot all about it once I had had my F350 CC LB for a day. I love it!
Some of the features I've never had in any vehicle and right now I don't see the point. Such as Auto headlight dimming and rain-sensing wipers. I know when to dim the headlights and my eyes are pretty good at sensing rain. It's not like there is any effort involved in moving my hand to flip a switch that is conveniently located right beside the steering wheel. But, who knows? After I take delivery and get to experience these things first hand, I might be singing a different song...I'd like to think I try to keep an open mind.
I have to admit... I really like the auto wipers. Here in Western Washington, you pretty much have to always have your hand on the wiper switch, constantly turning them on and off and adjusting speed. To me it's a great feature.

The same thing strikes me, but I guess I AM old at 76. And I used to work in technology on some pretty sophisticated stuff. Bought an XLT cause I didn't want or need every bell and whistle. Heck, I'm just catching up to some of the features on the wife's 2011 Escape.
Well we should all enjoy driving our trucks while we can. Pretty soon all knowing Washington shall decree that self driving cars/trucks are safer than human driven cars and we shouldn't be trusted to drive ourselves. At least we should have 7 years 364 days to still drive before new regulation comes.
My wife hate the heated seat buttons on the screen on her Fusion, she always reaches toi hit them the same time the backup camera comes on as I am backing out of the garage, and she has to wait for me to shift to drive. If we had auto fold/unfold mirrors Id be looking for a way to disable them, as where I park I have to fold them before I am fully in my spot and they can't unfold till I pull out past the wall. My r/h mirror is about 3 inches from the wall folded. I rely on my 360 camera to help guide me in.
Come on....if you have young kids....no USB ports in the back is something that would get used. Also...I'm on the fence about selling my truck now. I'm super po'd about this. When the massaging seat is massaging my ballz.....it seems to favor the left !!! What is up with that?? Thinking of bailing and looking at the Chevy...or Toyota....
I know what you mean, loaded up our overhead camper and took it out for the weekend. The bed rails got scuffed up a bit, and the wife needed a little reminder that at the end of the day......it's a truck. And trucks looking pretty is secondary to function.
she then sent me to my room
Too funny, my wife's just the opposite. She keeps asking me when it can be considered a truck and we go beat on it. I keep telling her I spent as much on the truck as her 2014 Mercedes SLK AMG so "BACK OFF"... I do think it's a problem that these trucks are getting so expensive. Even those of us that are used to using our trucks as "trucks", when you spend that much hard earned $$$ on them, we have to baby them for a while...
